Fort Worth, Tex. – The Arizona men’s golf team finished the final day of the Nike Collegiate Invitational in 11th place with a total of 902 (+62) on Tuesday. As a team, Arizona’s final round total came at 298 (+18).
Senior Alex McMahon was a bright spot for UA on Tuesday, firing a three-over 73 to bring his total to 220 (+10) for the tournament putting him in a tie for 22nd place.
“Our final round was close to being the Wildcat Golf Team we want to be,” Arizona head coach Jim Anderson said. “We had three guys turn near even par on a difficult course with tough hole locations. Our team kept fighting on the back but a loose finish prevented us from a significant move up. We know what we need to work on so we can finish the fall season on a high note.”
Other Wildcat finishes included freshman George Cunningham landing in a 39th place tie with a 228 (+14), senior Brenden Redfern in a tie for 46th with a 226 (+16), freshman Max Donohue at 55th shooting a 232 (+18) and junior Kolton Lapa finishing in tie for 59th place with a 243 (+23).
The Wildcats will play the fourth and final tournament of the fall season when they head to Vero Beach, Florida to participate in the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 27-28. For more information on Arizona men’s golf, follow @UAWildcatsGolf on Twitter.
