Today was a great first day of competition at the Accenture Match Play Championship, thanks to some incredible weather and equally compelling competition by the world’s best players. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as smoothly as we would have liked in regards to our new general parking plan at the base of Dove Mountain. We had a bigger turnout than expected today – which is a good story, of course, and we certainly appreciate the tremendous support shown to us thus far by the Tucson community. But we want to apologize to any of our fans who were inconvenienced by a longer-than-expected wait getting in or out of the parking lots today.
A first-class fan experience is our number-one priority, and we have taken measures to address the parking and traffic issues experienced today. In addition to increasing the number of shuttle buses and adding staff to improve the speed and flow of traffic, we are continuing to work closely with the Town of Marana Police Department to ensure our fans get to and from the parking lots in the most efficient manner possible.
Any fan who has purchased parking in advance will gain immediate access to the preferred lots on Dove Mountain. Fans who need to purchase parking the day of will see improved access at the General Parking Lot at the base of Dove Mountain (Tangerine).
In addition, we’d like to offer any Wednesday ticket holder the opportunity to return on Sunday for complimentary grounds access for the semi-finals and Championship Match. Just bring your Wednesday ticket to the gate to gain access to what promises to be an exciting final day of competition. For Sunday’s Championship Match, fans will have the chance to “Follow the Leaders,” which means we’re dropping the rope lines so you can walk the fairways behind the two players vying for the Accenture Match Play Championship title. It’s a unique opportunity unlike any other on the PGA TOUR and should make for a great experience for everyone.
Again, we appreciate the tremendous support shown to us thus far and look forward to a record-setting, memorable rest of the week.
