Have You Ever Wanted To Be A Professional LPGA Caddy

by Jack Talmage

RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup Tournament Director Chris Garrett announced that one lucky fan will get the opportunity to be a “Caddie for a Day” at the 2013 RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup Official Pro-Am, which will be played Wednesday, March 13, at Wildfire Golf Club at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort during tournament week.

All entrants must submit a brief essay of no more than 500 words explaining what it would mean to them to earn this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to caddie for an LPGA professional during an official event, and who they want to caddie for.

Entries can be submitted by email to founders@lpga.comfounders@lpga.com and are due 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25. The finalists’ essays will be posted on the tournament website, www.LPGAFoundersCup.com, where fans can then vote for their favorite submission.

The winner will be selected on Friday, March 1, and will assume the caddie duties for the player of their choice during the Official Pro-Am. “This really is a unique opportunity for golf enthusiasts to get the chance to get inside the ropes and really see what it is like to be a caddie for a professional golfer,” Garrett said. “They will carry the bag, rake the bunkers, and do everything a regular caddie does, all while walking alongside their favorite professional golfer. It really is a golf experience of a lifetime.”

Entering its third consecutive year, the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup will be played March 12-17, 2013, at Wildfire Golf Club at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa. This full-field, four-day event will be televised live on The Golf Channel all four days and features a $1.5 million purse, with $225,000 going to the champion. Karrie Webb won the inaugural RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup tournament in 2011, while two-time Rolex Player of the Year winner Yani Tseng captured the title in 2012. The tournament was established to honor the 13 original Founders of the LPGA Tour, as well as to help provide a future for the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program, which has received more than $1 million from tournament proceeds in the last two years.
