Fred Enke Golf Course was officially dedicated December 3, 1983. Enke offers golfers a different but interesting and challenging approach to golf course design. The major features of the course are its vast teeing areas, large greens, strategic bunkers and sand traps, and most important of all, its concept as a semi-arid,
limited turf course. Grass is used only on the tees, ball landing area, and greens, with undisturbed native plants comprising the remainder of the landscaping. One of the outstanding holes is #5, a 566-yard, par 5, which requires a tee shot down to a landing area fifty feet below, and one long fairway shot to get back up to the green.
