The D-backs Golf Classic at the Whirlwind Golf Club on November 10,was a great success this year raising $150,000 to benefit Military charities with focus on wounded soldiers, homeless veterans and putting veterans back to work. Some of the charities that will benefit from the funds are Folds of Honor, Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation, Packages from Home and Chase to provide mortgage-free homes for veterans. In fact, one of the tournament participants was Michael Proscia, who was awarded a mortgage-free home from Chase that was outfitted by the D-backs earlier this summer. The D-backs provided furnishings, gift cards and supplies for Proscia’s new home. The winning team was a group from Avnet that included Doug Ellinger, Dustin Johnson, Brad Dickey, Geoff Gagne, and brothers Jeremy and Mark Reed. The D-backs had many current players and alumni attend the event and many of the guys stayed late to enjoy the post tournament dinner event that was highlighted by an acoustic performance from local music sensation Roger Clyne.

Raffle – Dr. Jason Dittberner; Prize: Apple gift card ($650) for purchase of iPhone5 or iPad
Every tournament participant was able to choose from the Budweiser Prize vault featuring a variety of apparel and swag from Budweiser, D-backs, DNA Golf, Oakley, Whirlwind Golf Club, and In Celebration of Golf.
Silent auction items featured high-end sports memorabilia highlighted by a Bubba Watson pink PING driver, one of 100 exact replicas of the one he used to win the Master, signed by Bubba and comes with a letter of authenticity. Watson used the club to draw attention to his “Bubba and Friends Drive to a Million” in an effort to raise money for cancer. Other silent auction items included autographed items from Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Muhammad Ali, Jack Nicklaus, Jim Brown, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.
